Week in review

It feels like weeks since I last posted, but really its only been a few days.  Maybe its because so much has been going on.  I'll start with the updates.  My arm is almost all the way healed.  It bruised a pretty good one and I had to wear long sleeves so no one thought I got into a fight.  There's just a tiny bump there now like only a little pebble is in it not a boulder.  And after feedback I received on my last post I decided no to the new car.  I know sad day.  I did however figure out a good present to myself.  I have seasons 8-10 of Friends and I've always wanted the earlier ones, but its too expensive for me to buy at once.  Well, I found someone on KSL (by the way I LOVE that site) selling used ones.  I worked a deal and she's selling 1-7 for $75 I'm very excited its like over a hundred dollar savings.  I'm waiting until I sell my books back, probably on THursday to make the deal.  I also originally thought they were in Provo, she said that's where she was and gave me her address then was like oh but they're in Highland.  It was random, but a much closer drive then Provo.  I also may be able to get my hair done with the savings, not at a really nice salon but at the place I've been to before.  It's called Taylor Andrews did I happen to recommend it to anyone?  They sent me a ten dollar certificate for referring someone.  For the life of my I don't know who and everyone I think it could be I asked and they said no, so if it was you please let me know and thank you!  It's a school so its cheaper anyway, plus I'll probably just do a cut and possibly a few more highlights, I haven't decided and probably won't do it for another week or two.  I feel good on all my bargains lately.  Another reason I love KSL is I posted something about taking photographs for people.  I mostly advertised saying for engagement pictures, birthdays or senior pictures.  Well I had my first response someone up in Ogden wanting me to take them for invitations to a quincerra (Dunno how to spell that)  Anyway, I'm charging $25 for an hour sitting fee with pictures on CD and I said anywhere in Salt Lake free, but outside the valley I'd charge to travel.  I"m very excited although nervous its my first non-family paid thing, I don't really count the Jazz because they don't have to buy the pictures and taking them for my work people don't pay either.  We'll see how it goes.  If anyone knows of people in need of a photographer send them my way and I"ll give them a screaming good deal.  Haha that was cheesy.  Anyway, last night Sam invited me with her family to the Desert Star Theater in Murray.  They do spoof plays off things.  The one we went to was American Fork Idol.  I honestly don't remember the last time I laughed that hard.   Thanks again Sam, it was hilarious and I want to go to more of them.  On Saturday I had quite the busy day.  I shot the Jazz game.  Originally the guy was supposed to meet me there to give me more cards because I had maybe 20, which wouldn't last the night.  He called me right before the game saying he couldn't make it, still shoot it and I could just enjoy the game.  Well I also had a party for Newsbreak that night I didn't think I'd make.  So I shot before the game and pretty sure I was the only person leaving not going into the arena.  It was a good bar-b-que.  The class gets really close and its fun being able to still hang out outside the classroom.  Everyone is always about helping each other out and its a lot of fun, one of the best experiences of college.  It was at a local sportscasters house and guess what he had.  One of Shaq's old shoes.  Check this thing out.  My size 8 foot was honestly half its size.  That's a guys arm holding it up too not mine.  I couldn't believe how huge it was, the picture almost doesn't do it justice.

Next, which should really come first, is school.  I'm right in the middle of all the craziness.  Tomorrow is the last day of classes.  Today I took a final and turned in a paper for my political science class.  Since I"ve turned into a little procrastinator lately I had to get up at 5:30 this morning after staying up until 1:00 to finish it.  I had started it last week, but just never could get out what I wanted to say.  Well around 9:00 this morning, remember the paper is due at 10:45 I'm still at home and need to drive the half hour to school.  My computer lost three pages of it.  yeah let's just say I was a little mad.  I frantically tried to remember what I wrote and things I had changed.  I feel ok about it, I was very nervous for the test too but that actually went really good, much much better then I expected.  We got in there before he gave the test said just so you know many people take this class stop coming and never drop it.  So  I have to grade on  a very generous curve.  He said in the past generally it raises everyone a full letter grade.  I could have kissed the guy I was so happy.  It also calmed my nerves for the test, I get really nervous with them.  He said as long as we've been coming and doing fairly well you can expect an A but no guarantees.  This class was the one I was worried about.  I generally do really well in all my classes, but have just one a semester that ruins a 4.0 something I've never had in college.  Well maybe I can go out with a bang and get it this semester.  How crazy would that be, most credits I've ever taken, last semester, working the most I've worked and pull that off.  That might deserve another surprise from myself.  Haha anyway, I'm on the downward slope of crazy assignments.  I still have quite a bit to do, but that paper and final worried me the most.  Well I think that's about it.  Sorry so long I just had a lot going on and a lot of updates.

What do you guys think?

I am a huge believer in setting goals and then if you accomplish that goal rewarding it.  For example with little day to day things say I have a huge test I studied really hard for or a paper I did really well on I will then let myself get a Sonic diet coke or some sort of “treat” that I want.  I do bigger things too.  Usually at the end of each semester (generally with the money I get from selling my books back) I will get a pedicure, buy a new book I’ve been eyeing or something along those lines.  Well, now that I’m graduating I feel I deserve a pretty good reward.  I was considering going to a really nice salon to have my hair done, going on a mini spring clothes shopping spree, but you know those just aren’t as fun when this came to mind.

Yeah, a brand new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.  I mean I could stay on the conservative side and not get the SS version that’s $34,000, but stick with the one around 24,000.  I mean come on plus I can sell my car and sign my name on the dotted line to paying them back for like my entire life.  What do you guys think?  Salon day or new car???

Day 3 and a half

So I had the shot on Monday afternoon and my arm looks worse today then it has all week!  I took a picture for your viewing pleasure.  I feel like a new person today no more fever, stomach ache, anything.  Just a really sore/red arm :(

A new week

What an interesting week is all I have to say.  It all started normal on Monday.  I went to class and work, my last class was cancelled so I came home all prepared to do homework.  Well, I was making my lunch and went to let Sam back inside the house when I get this intense pain in my foot.  I stepped on a thumb tack.  I was sooo mad.  So I went back in the living room and was resting for about an hour, it started to feel a little better (seriously I didn't think it'd hurt that bad plus it was stuck in there and I had to dig it out which was a little disturbing.  My dad gets home and is like what are you doing.  I explain the story and he asks how long its been since I've had a tetanus shot.  I was tempted to lie and say two years ago, but really its been since I was in 7th grade.  So I was due for one again.  I called and they were able to get me in.  I don't really mind shots, its the drawing blood I don't like, but I remember this one making my arm hurt for a few days but I know the flu shot does that too and I just had one of those and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought.  Well, I get home and just crashed for like two hours.  I was like maybe it's because I"m stressed with homework and my body just making me take it easy.  I went to part of Chalice's softball game that night and had to come home early I was so tired.  Tuesday I woke up feeling pretty good.  My arm was soo sore though, but I knew that would happen.  I get home and again just crash this time for like three hours.  Then things just went downhill.  I got a fever, hot/cold chills and even Monday before the shot I had started getting a sharp pain in the lower right part of my stomach.  I still didn't feel better and just went to bed.  Well I woke up this morning, thinking I can do this.  I hop into the shower and I thought I was going to pass out.  I got extremely lightheaded and had to sit on the edge of the tub for five minutes before I could go into my room.  I'm like oh no I HAVE to go to school today one class the teacher said it was mandatory, plus its the end of the semester I have so much work to do.  Well I tried to rest and still couldn't hardly get up.  I called my first class teacher (Newsbreak) to let them know I'd need to be replaced today and went to sleep.  Besides texting a little bit I slept through until 12:30 when my dad came home to check on me.  It was the craziest thing ever.  I emailed the rest of my teachers and slept again.  I'm finally feeling a little better.  The fever isn't as bad although I still have hot/cold chills and my stomach pain is a lot less.  I just keep thinking if this is all symptoms of a tetanus shot I"m never getting one again and I'm permanently mad at thumb tacks.  So needless to say its been rough since its the end of school.  I'm going to attempt homework again if I don't fall asleep too fast like today has been haha.  Anyway on a better note I heard from Cameron yesterday with a little email.  It was very short, but he's been doing really good, he said he can write more in letters, which letters are always more fun to get anyway.  He's been out exactly four weeks which is crazy fast (in most ways other times I'm like it's so slow)  Nothing else new has really happened of course when you sleep most of the day it's kind of hard to have anything happen.  I recommend to everyone not to step on anything that would make you get a tetanus shot, but like my dad said at least I"m good for ten years and now especially won't have to worry when I go to Guatemala.  THe nurse told me they made her get one when she got a papercut at least mine was a little bit worse being a tack then just a papercut.  Well, I'll end this and attempt to start my homework :)

Tales from the week

What a crazy week!  I have lots of pictures to share to document what's been happening.  I can't take credit for this first picture, I actually had no idea it had been taken until someone tagged me on my Facebook with it.  It's during my Newsbreak class.  This is when I was on graphics and I was typing everyone's name into the computer for credits and anchors, stuff like that.  I know you can only see the back of me, but it gives you a glimpse into what I talk about with Newsbreak.

Next, Friday was the last day of elementary engineering week.  I am soo excited.  It was very exhausting.  I took some pictures for them with my camera.  That was kind of nice I could focus on that and only had to help with a few activities the two days I brought it with me.  JJ also helped Friday and both of us had it up to our necks with work so we decided to go to lunch.  Well, after all was said and done we ended up eating leftovers at her house, we grabbed Sun and all three of us went to the What a Woman Wants conference down at Southtowne Expo Center.  It was actually pretty fun.  I got this pen set that you can do nail designs with.  I practiced on Chalice because she went to prom today, let's just say their pictures make it seem a lot easier.  We also saw this

Does anyone else find it as random as I that they would have a camo shower at a women's show?  The only thing we figured is it'd be something for the wife's to show their husbands saying hey we could get this before they showed them all the receipts of stuff they got there.  JJ got this cool cutter thing that like slices it and Sun got a really pretty necklace I was very jealous of.  Well on the way home we pass by a Ford dealership having a Mustang show.  Well of course they had to let the little kids do a test drive.  I must say I thought it was pretty funny.

Today, I helped JJ and Jacob get their pictures for graduation.  They haven't told me what ones are they favorite (Jacob had his computer and took my card right there and uploaded them)  But this is one I thought turned out pretty good.  Since they're both graduating they're doing a combined announcement they're making themselves.  I won't give too much more, don't want to ruin the surprise for what they end up sending.  It was hard because the wind was blowing their tassles around and someone kept making mean faces :) plus the sun made it sort of hard too.

Tonight was Chalice's prom.  I know big surprise Blake asked her.  They were running late so I got some pictures after they went to dinner.  I also uploaded them online and had some printed one-hour so his mom could actually see them (they didn't have time to run show her Chalice's dress)  They were pretty good about going wherever.  I liked a few for different reasons.  In one the sun overexposed a lot of the background but I was able to get the color on them to really pop out.  Then another was very natural.  Anyway here's some examples I can't remember what ones I even printed.

Well that about sums up lately.  Lot's of picture taking, I'll have to share some of what I took for work and homework.  I spent three good solid hours today and barely touched the pile.  I got everything needed for Monday, which is nice no big pressure.  I don't have any finals during finals week so its a big push this next week and a half to finish everything.  But I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel and once I'm done with these last tests and projects, I'm completely done, which is a very good thing to be!

Technology...

I finally after some playing around figured it out.  I'm not even going to try to explain what happened.  I think technology has been against me lately.  Today the building my classes are in the internet didn't work.  One class he just cancelled it.  I stuck around to try to work on my site, but the computer wouldn't read my jump drive.  I finally went to the Union because I heard the internet there worked.  Well, it did but insanely slow.  The other one we were supposed to get our take home final, but he couldn't finish it and upload it to our site.  In Newsbreak we had an issue being able to play packages and had to have someone sit in another room to do it.  At the end of the day things end up working out, it just leads for a little frustration and wasted time in between.

Frustration

So, I just wanted to let you know why I have such a boring theme.  I went to change from my little Easter bunny one when the one I wanted kept giving me this error message.  I found a website that suggested (there was this little box at the bottom) to turn it to "classic" mode.  Well I did that and now that little box to take it off is gone and I can't figure out how to get it back to post my html code for the design.  Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate.  I'm working on a better post oh yeah but I did have to share one story per Chalice's request.  I was at the good ol Walleyworld the other day buying computer ink and some pictures-it was under 20 bucks.  Well the lady ID's me, which they hardly do for under 50 anymore, but I didn't mind at all.  Well then she sits there staring at it and is all you look waaay different without glasses.  She sat there staring at it and seriously thought I was stealing someone's idea to buy 20 bucks worth of stuff at Walmart.  I just was like yeah it was taken when I was 16, lot's of time to change.  Crazy huh?  Well I do look insanely different I should post a then and now picture, but I think I'll avoid that embarassment. Oh on another note this week is engineering week with my work at school.  You can watch this video from channel 13 about it http://www.fox13now.com/video/?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=3649825

not 100 percent accurate but close.  I was judging those catapults, well today I was the video was Monday.  My sister JJ was doing that fish competition I don't know how she managed to not be in any of those shots.  It's tiring even though it only lasts until 1 each day, just lots of prep and work into it.

Whirlwind week

Wow, it has been a crazy week.  There is just so much going on and not enough time to do it.  It also seemed to be one of those really bad I can't do anything right weeks.  I did try to look at the good from the week to balance out the not so good.  First, today I took my car to get the oil change.  It was the exact to the day three months you need to wait.  I never go over the miles, you know how they give date or miles, well this time I was like 700 over.  I also just rolled over 94,000 miles on it, so its getting up there.  Well I take it in and they showed me all this nasty sludge build up.  The guy was nice and talked to his manager who gave it to me for half off, but still by the time I walked out of there with the oil change it was 70 bucks which=no fun.  It's been acting a little bit funny lately I can't even describe it kind of like something's pushing with the engine, so hopefully it gets better.  Also, the job hunt is so depressing.  Although one bit of good news the job at school I really want they received my cover letter and resume and said it made it through the first round and so it's now being reviewed and all that fun stuff.  The other day I was looking back a year ago and what I wrote on here.  How different life was!  For my seasoned followers remember this was around the time I got that 60 year old guy at the bank proposing to me?  And just how I was winding down the semester, but now I'm winding down my undergraduate career, crazy stuff.  On another note this week, Sam (my dog) got really sick one night.  She was uncontrollably shaking and kept panting like she was really hot.  She wouldn't eat or drink anything either.  We almost took her to the vet in the middle of the night, but I ended up sitting up with her petting her and we decided to see how she was in the morning.  Something had happened earlier that day, my dad almost said it was like a stroke, so hard to see.  She ended up being better and is now almost back to normal.  It scared me half to death.  I've had her for about 13 years now and she is really like a kid to me.  I'm very attached to say the least and it will be very hard when that day comes to let her go.  I hope you all don't think we're bad people not taking her to the vet, but she gets so nervous and worked up we don't unless absolutely necessary.  So that happened into Wednesday morning, well I have Newsbreak that morning we did our live to tape.  I got there probably 7:10 because I was in charge of audio.  I'll make a really long story short by saying one of the mics just randomly went out halfway through the show.  I had checked it and it worked before, we don't know what happened.  We ended up starting at that point, but needless to say my head wasn't in the game after that.  I was also out of it being up the night before and worrying about the dog.  I figure its a learning experience though and I"m not going to sit and critique myself too much with it.  One good thing with school though today in my political science class I actually understood some of the math concepts he introduced.  It's a statistics based research class and he's teaching us how to do a portion of our 15 page research paper, getting the facts through stats to prove our hypothesis.  I used to be pretty ok with math, but something just fell out of my brain with it three years ago and ever since math is like a foreign language so that was one good thing.  Another is I got a new straightener.  Chalice and I normally share one, but she was on an overnight trip and took hers.  Well I decided I'll see if I can find one for around 20 if so I'll get it, if not I can go without it and just try to put it up.  I know 20 for a straightener, way good huh?  I love it too, it is amazing and sooo much easier to do my hair with then the one Chalice had.  I now actually don't mind doing my hair, so that was very very good news.  I also put a lot of work into building my website, it looks completely different from the last time I talked about it.  Go here if you want to see http://home.utah.edu/~u0429890/KayCeeburnside.html  my partner helped me with deciding on the style and coding it in, I really like how its coming along.  The picture thing on my portfolio page I still need to get better pictures, I just put those in for now.  Another cool thing was a girl I work with asked how much I'd charge to photograph her sisters wedding in September.  I had never really thought of still photography for weddings, I always just thought video.  I also don't know if I should or not, it seems so scary to do a wedding.  I'm still thinking about it if I'd want to do it and also how much I'd even charge, but its something to think about getting into besides just videos.  Well I'll end this now before I ramble too much, I've been going crazy with the Taylor post now this.  I'm looking forward to the weekend of resting and recovering.  I'll keep looking for the good with things when I think I'm having a bad week, it definitely helps to make me realize the blessings I do have.

Taylor's Dance Recital

So on Tuesday night my five-year-old niece Taylor performed with her dance group up at the U's Kingsbury Hall in the Swan Princess.  She was I believe a townschild and did a very good job.  I took a few inside but they didn't allow flash photography, the lighting was not ideal and it was the best one I could get.  She's on the end in that picture.  The other pictures are my neices and nephews top one is my nephew Kodi climbing on the wall.  Next is my cute little nephew Carter then the dancer herself Taylor and finally the little sister who I'm sure one day will become a ballerina Aspen.  It's not letting me upload the oldest Kyle, to be fair I'll do a separate post with his in there.

Where did the weekend go...

Wow the weekend has come and is almost gone, doesn't seem fair how that happens.  I had quite the eventful time.  Friday was my grandmother's 80th birthday.  I had my camera with me since I was going straight to shoot the Jazz game.  I happened to pull it out and grab a few candid shots.  After I uploaded them I wish I had done better at getting everyone's picture on there, but I'll just have to remember that for next time.  Both sides of my family and especially my immediate family has not been the best with capturing memories with pictures.  I hope to break that chain and be the one.  The first one is my wonderful Grandmother.  The next are my two great-aunts on my Dad's side Gwen and Milly.  The next is my Grandma's two brothers, Dennis and Gary (Milly and Gwen's husbands respectively)  Then my Grandfather and his brother Stirling.  Finally my little sister and her boyfriend of a year and a half now Blake.  I also took pictures for my announcements.  I'm not a fan of having my picture taken that's why I stay behind the camera, so I mainly just wanted to get it over with.  I think I got a few good shots with JJ's help and now I won't have to worry about it.  I had another scary driving experience this weekend.  I swear I'm like a magnet for car accidents (I'm going on the record now saying not one of them I've been in has ever been my fault)  I was on the freeway rocking out to my sweet 80's music of Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl (yeah I totally was a product of the 80's although at times I think I should have been born earlier because I love the Beach Boys and the Beatles.)  I was probably going a tad bit too fast, but nothing outrageous.  I put my blinker on gave the three second courtesy then proceeded to change lanes.  As I was about halfway over this car going 50mph in the next lane over decides it wants to get over too.  Well they didn't see me nor give the three second warning.  Luckily I saw it and was able to swerve back over.  I always say I have little guardian angles over me and I will continue to say that.  At times I can't believe some of the accidents I've avoided.  Another good thing about this weekend was watching conference.  This is the first time I made a conscious effort to watch all of it.  I was able to besides about 10 minutes of both Saturday's and Sunday's morning sessions because I was in the shower.  I also tried to pay attention and pick things out of each talk that could be applied to my life.  One of my favorites was (I can't remember his name) but the person of the seventy that talked about change.  I feel that is such a huge thing for me right now because I'm forced to make a lot of change pretty soon.  I find comfort knowing I will only grow from it.  I also love President Monson.  He's always been on of my favorites so any of his talks and especially his stories I just love.  Another thing I did was actually watch what KSL plays in between Sunday's conferences.  I loved the special on the Draper Temple.  Cameron and I were able to go to the open house which I'm so grateful for and how lucky we are to have it so close.  I knew some of the history, but to hear it all was fascinating.  Some of the shots they had especially from the sky were just breathtaking.  I plan in the near future to go there and it almost has become my favorite temple over Salt Lake.  Although I love them all.  Well that's about it for my weekend.  I did clean and vacuum my room, which it desperately needed.  I did not do near the homework I hoped, but plan to work on that soon.  I have a busy week ahead including a broadcasters job fair at school wish my luck.  Well I hope you all enjoyed your weekends and maybe they didn't go by as fast as mine.

All Fool's Day

How impressed are you all that I'm updating my blog so frequently?  I must say I am, but today I have a good reason for updating it.  First off happy April and spring!  It snowed today which was a little rough, but I know the warm is coming and staying for good.  I changed my blog background in getting ready for Easter.  I love holidays and decorating for them.  Just come to my house and you can see that.  I'm not in love with this background, but its still pretty cute.  I'll switch it to something else as soon as Easter is over.  So the real reason for this post well one my mom has asked me a million times if I've blogged about it and she doesn't even know how to get on to read it haha.  It all started this morning.  Now it's not really a big secret I've never been a fan of April Fool's day.  I mean it's fun and all playing pranks, but sometimes it just gets old.  I think the reason for this is the family I'm in.  My dad is bad enough with things let alone my sister JJ.  My dad has done everything from calling our house phone with his cell phone every 5 minutes starting at 3 am to pulling the fire alarm at 4 am to changing all the clocks in the house.  Usually I just prepare for it and wake up anticipating anything.  Well this morning it was super hard to get up, but finally I'm starting to around 5:50 am keep in mind when I here my mom saying there's no water and she STILL hasn't showered yet.  Well I'm already running behind, I knew it'd be a snowy commute and there's no way I could be late to my class.  I get out of bed to realize my dad thought it'd be funny to turn the water off.  Well I actually think jokes on him, he's the one who had to get out of bed way earlier then he would have had to just to turn it on.  I've been meaning to tell him I missed a really important test the teacher wouldn't let me make up or something, but keep forgetting.  So Happy April Fool's Day to you all.  Leave a comment if you played any nasty tricks or had one played on you.  I want to see if any can top that.
